ABOUT THE ARTIST

I’ve been immersed in the visual arts all of my life. My mother, grandmother, and many of my aunts are artists. My three sisters and I have all grown up to become artists as well, each finding our own niche in the art world.

I’ve found mine with graphic design, but continue to paint as well — and my fine art background heavily influences my design work.

I live in Goshen Indiana with my two lovely children and spouse. I love to be with family and friends, cook and eat delicious food, play board games, and spend time outdoors (in warm weather) tandem biking or swimming.

ABOUT GRAPHIC DESIGN

I’ve been the graphic designer at Goshen College since 2011, the designer of Edible Michiana magazine since 2015, the designer of Anabaptist World magazine (formerly The Mennonite) since 2017, and the designer of Edible WOW magazine since 2022.

I do product design for Earth Source Trading and Menno Tea.

I also design logos, brochures, annual reports, wedding invitations, and other publicity materials for various clients.

ABOUT FINE ART

My paintings are mostly mixed media. I begin with a photograph, which I manipulate on the computer. I print out the modified photograph on watercolor paper and draw on top of the printed photograph with pencil, fine-tip pen, or colored pencils. I then wet the paper, letting most of the printer ink run off (but the drawing stays). I finish with watercolor to add colorful washes and detail.

Some of these pieces are for sale at Found (an art gallery in downtown Goshen), but most are examples of my commissioned work.
